Pakistan-Norway cooperates in investment, climate & education

Islamabad and Oslo are commemorating 75 years of diplomatic relations this year.

Islamabad, 15 February 2023 (GNP): Erling Rimestad, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Norway, today met with Dr. Asad Majeed Khan, the Foreign Secretary of Pakistan.

At the meeting, the subjects of investment, marine, climate change, and higher education cooperation were covered. It is important to remember that Islamabad and Oslo are commemorating 75 years of diplomatic relations this year.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs tweeted, “Foreign Secretary @asadmk17 received Deputy Foreign Minister @ErlingRimestad today. Cooperation in the areas of investment, maritime, climate & higher education were discussed. Pakistan & Norway  are commemorating 75 years of Diplomatic Relations this year.”

Both countries have friendly and mutually beneficial relations in which the latter aids the former in developing, particularly in the areas of government and education.

The European country’s contribution to the documenting and preservation of South Asian country’s cultural heritage is modest but substantial.

Pakistanis make up one of Norway’s largest immigrant populations. The majority of Pakistanis who reside in Norway come from the Punjab province and are mostly found in the cities of Oslo and Drammen.

The South Asian country also runs a research outpost in the area of Antarctica known as Queen Maud Land, which Norway has claimed. Moreover, Pakistan has an embassy in Oslo, whereas Norway maintains consulates in Lahore and Islamabad.
