Pakistan, Kazakhstan enhancing cooperation in various fields

Yerlan Koshanov-Chairman Lower House of Parliament of Kazakhstan calls on Speaker NA Raja Pervez Ashraf.

Islamabad, 12 December 2022 (GNP): Pakistan is making a lot of effort to increase its cooperation with the Central Asian nations, especially Kazakhstan, on all issues of shared interest.

At the Parliament House in Islamabad, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, had a visit from Yerlan Koshanov, Chairman of the Mazhilis of Parliament of Kazakhstan.

Speaker National Assembly declared that Pakistan’s “Vision Central Asia” Policy intends to develop long-term and result-oriented relationships with Central Asian nations during the conference.

The Parliamentary delegation met with Chairman Yerlan Koshanov, Mazhilis of the Parliament. Federal Minister Shazia Atta Marri and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Zahid Akram Durrani also attended the meeting.

Raja Pervaiz Ashraf stressed the need of providing fast access to the sea for Central Asian countries that are landlocked through our ports in Karachi and Gwadar.

In addition, he emphasized Pakistan’s importance as a vital gateway for efficiently and profitably linking Central Asia with the rest of the globe.

He also extended his heartfelt appreciation to Chairman Yerlan for traveling to Pakistan at his request. He emphasized that this visit would be essential in quickening the pace of collaboration, particularly in the legislative setting.

He continued by saying that active engagement from both sides of parliament would permit more effective implementation of current initiatives and legal support to deal with challenges required to further improve brotherly bilateral ties.

The necessity of fostering collaboration in the fields of tourism and trade was emphasized by Shazia Atta Marri, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety and Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).

She also discussed the need of easing immigration restrictions, promote youth exchange programs, and increase women’s participation in decision-making.

It is important to mention that Yerlan fully agreed with the topics covered during the meeting and pledged to contribute to finding solutions to all outstanding problems in order to advance peace and prosperity in both nations.
