Lahore, 4 October 2021 (GNP/TDI): Pakistan is hosting the ’53rd World Military Shooting Championship’ (Shotgun) 2021. The event is taking place at Garrison Shooting Gallery, Lahore, and is scheduled to continue till October 9.
The event is organized under the auspices of Conseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM), commonly known as the International Military Sports Council. Pakistan has the honor of holding this military championship for the second time. This year’s motto of the championship is “Friendship through Sports”.
According to ISPR, the military’s media wing, the chief guest of the opening ceremony was Corps Commander Lahore, Lieutenant General Muhammad Abdul Aziz. Shooters from over 51 countries are participating in the event including Russia, Sri Lanka, France, Palestine, and Kenya.
The CISM is a leading international military sports organization. The president of the organization is Colonel Herve Piccirillo. The founding members of the organization are Belgium, Denmark, France, Luxemburg, and the Netherlands. Pakistan joined the organization in 1952.
The CISM organizes various sports activities among its 140 member countries. The purpose of arranging these activities is to promote intercultural and international competence.
