Pakistan extends condolences and sends help to Turkiye

According to Shehbaz Sharif, his administration would do all necessary to aid Turkiye.

Islamabad, 6 February 2023 (GNP): After a massive earthquake killed more than 2,200 people in Turkiye and Syria, the government of Pakistan pledged help.

Islamabad promised help as the death toll is anticipated to rise as news from isolated regions of southeast Turkiye trickles in. Images that are circulating on the internet depict buildings that are in ruins and bodies that are lying on the ground.

The Turkiye government and its citizens were condoled upon by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in his message. He recalled Ankara’s support for Pakistan in every adversity and said that Islamabad stands in solidarity with its Turkish brothers and sisters in this hour of loss. According to Pakistan’s Prime Minister, his administration would do all necessary to aid Turkiye.

Shehbaz Sharif tweeted, “Just spoke to H.E. President Erdogan to express our profound condolences & prayers at the human & material losses in the earthquake. I told the Turkish President that Pakistan would do anything to help their Turkish brothers & sisters during this challenging time.”

The Prime Minister further announced, “Teams comprising doctors, paramedics & rescue workers are being sent to Türkiye today to help with the ongoing rescue efforts. A plane carrying medicines and other essential relief goods is also being dispatched soon.”

President Dr. Arif Alvi also expressed sorrow over the recent natural disaster’s loss of lives of Turkish people. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Turkish nation, and the families of the dead all received his condolences.

In response to a rise in climate change-related natural catastrophes, he once again urged worldwide cooperation in order to ensure humanity’s existence. He maintained that these calamities are not confined to any one country.

Moreover, the President of Pakistan, along with Turkiye, expressed his sympathies to the Syrian people for the loss of priceless lives, as hundreds are still buried beneath the debris and rescue efforts are still ongoing.
