Islamabad, 3 October 2021 (GNP/TDI): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Minister’s Public Diplomacy of Pakistan, and Pakistani Embassy to Iraq express heartfelt congratulations to Iraq on its 89th National Day.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan tweeted, “On the occasion of National Day of #Iraq, we extend heartiest felicitations to its Government and people.”

In a press release, the Embassy of Pakistan to Iraq expressed the willingness to strengthen bilateral ties between the two states. Moreover, Foreign Minister’s Public Diplomacy also wished the Middle Eastern state on its National day.

The national holiday of Iraq is celebrated on October 3rd, which is also known as ‘’National Iraq Day’’ that marks Iraq’s independence from Britain in 1932. The Kingdom of Iraq declared independence from Britain on October 3rd, 1932, with King Faisal as its king. This monarchy lasted until 1958 when Iraq became a republic following the 14 July revolution.   

Pakistan and Iraq have a long history of friendship based on common religion, beliefs, and culture. On a number of regional and global issues, the two countries share a common understanding, comparable and similar in views. They are continuing to work closely together to strengthen bilateral cooperation in a variety of areas.

Regular high-level exchanges and developing cooperation in a variety of fields characterize the two countries’ relationship. Currently, Pakistan has an embassy in Baghdad and Iraq has in Islamabad.
