Shellharbour : A Pakistan Day flag ceremony was held in Shellharbour, Australia bringing together the Pakistani community alongside civic leaders.
The ceremony was hosted by Ghulam Mustafa Chudhary, Chairperson of the Shellharbour Islamic Society alongside Vice Chairperson Altaf Abbasi. Among the distinguished guests were Chris Homer, Mayor of Shellharbour and Councillor John Davey.
The event saw strong participation from the Muslim community including women and children reflecting a family-oriented atmosphere.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mayor Chris Homer highlighted the importance of multicultural harmony and community engagement in the region. “Shellharbour is proud of its diverse community and events like this showcase the strength that comes from embracing different cultures,” he said.
“Celebrations like Pakistan Day not only honour heritage but also help strengthen cultural understanding and friendship between Australia and Pakistan,” the Mayor added.
Councillor John Davey also acknowledged the important role of the community in promoting unity.
Host Ghulam Mustafa Chudhary thanked the guests and community members for their participation and support.
