Beijing, 7 June, 2023 (GNP): On Tuesday, Pakistan and China signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for bilateral cooperation in sustainable development, and conservation of water resources.
During a ceremony held at Pakistan embassy in China, the MoU between the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), and Chang Jiang Water Resources Commission (CWRC), was signed.
Vice Commissioner of CWRC Wu Daoxi and Pakistan Ambassador to China Moin Ul Haque signed the agreement.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Moin Ul Haque stated that the MOU would open the door for bilateral collaboration in the use of water resources and sustainable development, and environmental protection.
The MOU embodies the principles of the ongoing Indus Initiative sponsored by the Pakistani government.

Haque extended an invitation to the CWRC to participate in the project in conjunction with WAPDA, the Pakistani Ministries of Water Resources and Climate Change.
Furthermore, praising the CWRC’s role in Pakistan’s water resource development throughout the years, Ambassador Haque highlighted their assistance during Pakistan’s devastating floods last year.
In his remarks, Wu Daoxi described the projects by CWRC in Pakistan and stressed his wish to deepen relations with that country.
He added that for practical collaboration in this area, the two sides should develop and carry out cooperative initiatives under the agreement.
