Islamabad, 1 March 2023 (GNP): Pakistan and Germany have signed a Letter of Intent (Lol) for Skilled Labour Mobility, a move aimed at strengthening bilateral ties. The agreement was signed by Ambassador Dr. Mohammad Faisal and Steffen Sottung, Managing Director International Relations, on behalf of the Government of Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Federal Employment Agency of Germany, respectively.
The Lol is expected to facilitate the exchange of skilled migrant workers between the two countries and improve information and counselling services for Pakistani migrant workers. The collaboration between the Overseas Employment Corporation of Pakistan and Federal Employment Agency of Germany would work towards devising future guidelines for the execution of the agreement.

Pakistan, being the 6th most populous country, possesses great potential in skilled labour, while Germany requires skilled manpower in various sectors, including hospitality, health, construction, and IT. The Lol would promote an exchange of expertise on legal pathways, skill requirements, and recognition of Pakistani qualifications in Germany.
The signing of the Lol is seen as a significant step towards strengthening bilateral ties between Pakistan and Germany. Ambassador Dr. Faisal remarked that the agreement was one of the key steps towards augmenting bilateral ties between the two countries, and he expressed the hope that similar substantive steps would be taken in the future.
Overall, the Lol is expected to promote potential fields of cooperation for the mutual benefit of both countries and is seen as a positive development in the relationship between Pakistan and Germany.
