Moeed Yousuf meets Wendy Sherman on behalf of Pakistan and US

Islamabad, 8 October 2021 (GNP/ TDI): The United States (U.S) Deputy Secretary of State, Wendy Ruth Sherman, met National Security Advisor (NSA) Pakistan, Moeed Yousuf. The meeting marked the discussion of bilateral relations between the United States and Pakistan along with the regional security situation. Moeed also welcomed Wendy to Pakistan.

The two sides exchanged views on the developments in Afghanistan. National Security Advisor, Moeed Yousaf, remarked that the international community must not leave Afghanistan alone at this critical juncture. It must maintain ‘positive contact’ with the government in Kabul. It is necessary not only for regional stability but also for international peace.

The U.S Deputy Secretary of State Sherman acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts in conducting evacuation operations from Kabul. He also appreciated Pakistan’s provision of humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan.

Furthermore, Mr. Moeed Yousaf also informed the U.S Deputy Secretary of State about India’s blatant human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK). He stated India’s activities in IOK pose a threat to regional peace and security.

In addition, both sides vowed for better bilateral relations. They agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation especially in areas of trade, investment, and security.
