“Lok Mela Festival” Promotes Soft Image of Pakistan

Islamabad, 3 December 2022 (GNP): According to Engr Amir Muqam, the prime minister’s national history and culture adviser, the annual Lok Mela event is essential in successfully promoting the country’s soft image and bringing people closer to their rich traditions.

According to him, the 10-day event aimed to promote and preserve Pakistani people’s arts, crafts, culture, folk music, and traditional skills. He made this claim in an exclusive interview with national news.

Amir Muqam commended Lok Virsa’s leadership for organizing such an excellent folk festival. He asserted that everyone—including the organizers, sponsors, and musicians—contributed to Mela’s success, which was evident from the number of attendees.

The Minister further said that people from all provinces actively participate in this one-of-a-kind event, which has grown to symbolize the federation’s recognition. Visitors are entertained by cultural performances presented by participants from all provinces.

Along with extending a warm welcome to everyone attending the Festival, he stated that his ministry is committed to preserving Pakistan’s folk cultural heritage and spreading its message.

He added that last year, the COVID pandemic forced the event’s cancellation, but they have resumed its activities. Events like Lok Mela are a priority of the current government because they support Pakistan’s traditional culture and offer healthy entertainment for the populace.

The Prime Minister’s advisor hoped the Mela would be a significant catalyst for fostering unity, brotherhood, national reunification, and cross-cultural understanding.

About the Festival

At the Lok Virsa Complex in Islamabad, the official opening of the 10-day Pakistani folk festival “Lok Mela” organized by Lok Virsa, National Heritage & Culture Division, took place. Amir Muqam, advisor to the prime minister for national heritage and culture, ingurated the event.

The event will run through December 4, 2022, with all its attractions. The daily hours range from 10:00 to 22″:00. Adult admission costs Rs. 100 per person; student admission costs Rs. 50 per person. Children under the age of five may enter for free.
