Rawalpindi, 9 March 2023 (GNP): Lahore Qalandars defeated Islamabad United at the Pindi Cricket Stadium on Thursday. With an enormous margin of 119 runs, Shaheen Shah Afridi-led Qalandars defeated United, and set a new record.
Prior to Qalandars, the record for the largest victory margin was held by Multan Sultans. They defeated Quetta Gladiators by 117 runs in previous season.
The Qalandars has also became the only team to win twice in a single Pakistan Super League (PSL) edition by a margin of more than 100 runs, that too against Islamabad United both of the times.
Earlier, Lahore Qalandars won the toss and chose to bat first.

Islamabad United’s momentum was stifled by Fakhar Zaman’s 115-run innings off 57 balls. First time in the history of the PSL, one batter scored more than the entire opposition.
Islamabad United attempted to score as many runs as possible in the Powerplay throughout the chase, but they continued losing wickets in the process. Islamabad United’s middle order was destroyed by Rashid Khan, who took four wickets for Qalandars. It was a top-of-the-table clash (Islamabad United- best batting line up Vs Lahore Qalandars- best bowling) but turned out to be one sided as Islamabad United lost all the wickets for just 107 runs, in response to Lahore Qalandars’ 226.
Lahore Qalandars is now at the top of scorecard with 14 points and clinched a berth in the qualifier round. Islamabad United with 12 points is at the second spot.
