New York , 18 November 2019 (GNP): On 18th November 2019, H.E. Mr. Chingiz Aidarbekov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic participated in the 40th Session of the General Conference of UNESCO at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.
H.E. Mr. Chingiz Aidarbekov addressed the General Policy Debate of the General Conference, where he emphasized the special role of UNESCO, given its broad mandate, in the achievement of sustainable development goals by member states until 2030. He noted Kyrgyzstan is currently working on the preparation of the Voluntary National Reviews of Sustainable Development Goals 2030, which will be presented to the ECOSOC in 2020.
H.E. Mr. Chingiz Aidarbekov noted the recent ratification of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change by the Kyrgyz Republic and requested UNESCO member states to support international initiatives of Kyrgyzstan to expand the Mountain Partnership, conserve the snow leopard, protect mountain ecosystems, as well as the problem of glacier melting.
