Lahore, 2 April 2023 (GNP): Management of Mohammad Amir has been approached by a key member of the Pakistani selection committee, who has urged him to let the left-arm bowler know that he needs to get ready for an international comeback.
Amir has reportedly been told by the selector to concentrate on his cricket and avoid making superfluous comments in the media that could spark a debate.
According to the source, he will soon be requested to take his retirement back, so he needs to keep working out and staying in shape until then.
In 2020, Amir ended his international career in protest at the treatment he had experienced from the Misbah ul Haq-led management at the time.
However, with Najam Sethi’s return to leadership of the PCB, the management committee chairman stated in a media interview that if Amir decides to come out of retirement, he will be given the same consideration for selection as other players.

“If Mohammad Amir takes back his retirement, he will be able to represent Pakistan in international cricket. I have always been adamantly opposed to match-fixing. No player convicted of a crime should be spared, in my opinion, but at the same time, after serving his sentence for a given number of years, a player should be permitted to participate in international cricket again “cited Sethi.
In an interview earlier this year, Pakistan’s head selector, Haroon Rasheed, reaffirmed Sethi’s position on the choice of Amir.
“I believe that players should make statements after giving them significant thought. Even one of your statements might spark debate. Players should, in my opinion, concentrate on their cricket”, Haroon remarked.
“I’m not certain of Amir’s status in this instance. I’ve heard he’s considering to take his retirement back. He is playing, which is wonderful. He stated that if he keeps up his performance, he will have a chance to be chosen just like the other players.
Amir continues to play in tournaments all around the world despite having retired from international competition; most recently, he represented Karachi Kings in PSL 8.
