Karachi, 20 November 2022 (GNP/ TDI): With the participation of Ambassadors, army officials, and defense trade companies from all over the world, IDEAS 2022 came to an end on 18th November.
The 11th session of the International Defense Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) was held from 15 to 18 November in Expo Centre Karachi.
This strategic event brought together all the industry’s players across the globe to showcase the latest technological innovations.
The Karachi Expo Centre was at capacity with more than 500 exhibitors from Turkey, China, North America, South America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Far East, with 60% of them coming from outside and 40% from within the nation. Along with business visitors, the exhibition was visited by more than 285 high-level delegations from 64 countries.
Russia dispatched a delegation even though it wasn’t an exhibitor at IDEAS 2022 this time. In the meanwhile, newcomers from a variety of European countries, such as Austria, Romania, and Hungary, entered the race.
This time, Turkish businesses, which were multiplying worldwide, reserved two entire halls as opposed to China, which only reserved one whole hall.
United Arab Emirates (UAE)
The Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Hamad Obaid Alzaabi participated in the event. The Ambassador was accompanied by Major General Saeed Rashid Al Shehhi, UAE Land Forces Commander.
The officials visited various pavilions and examined new technological innovations in defense. The Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was also present.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov attended the event. The delegation of Azerbaijan was led by Madat Guliyev, Minister of Defense Industry of Azerbaijan.
Along the fringes of the event, Madat Guliyev met with Muhammad Israr Tareen, Federal Minister of Defence Production of Pakistan.
Consul General of Iran in Karachi, Hassan Nourian participated in IDEAS. He attended the event along with Brigadier Nasser Mokhtarzadeh, Deputy Commander of the Iranian Army for Information and Communication Technology.
They also held a meeting with Israr Tareen, the Minister of Defense Production Affairs of Pakistan, on the sidelines of the event.
The discussion revolved around the ways of cooperation in the field of information technology and defense knowledge-based products.
Under the lead of General Kamal Gunaratne, Defence Secretary of Sri Lanka, the delegation participated in IDEAS. The delegation also held dialogues with stakeholders.
It is pertinent to mention here that the 3rd Round of the Armed Forces Defence Dialogue (AFDD) was held along the fringes of IDEAS 2022.
The meeting took place between Lieutenant General Hamood uz Zaman Khan, Defence Secretary of Pakistan with his Sri Lankan counterpart, Kamal Gunaratne. Both officials exchanged views on regional security & upcoming challenges.
The Chief of Air Staff of Nigeria, Air Marshall Oladayo Ammao also participated in the event along with his team.
The Air Marshal declared the event an interactive platform for Nigerian Air Force. They could access the latest products available to cater to defense and security.
On the sidelines of the event, Oladayo Ammao also met with his Pakistani counterpart from the Pakistani Air Force, Zaheer Ahmed Babar.
Apart from foreign delegate representation, high-tech defense companies from China, Turkiye, North and South America, Europe, Asia, & the Far East also participated. The companies showcased their latest developments in the field of defense & security.
It is pertinent to mention here that this year, IDEAS has surpassed all previous milestones in terms of space, booking, exhibitors, and delegates both domestic and foreign.
