Indonesian Envoy commends Pakistan-Indonesia trade growth

Envoy lauds contribution of business community in promoting Pak-Indonesia trade ties and Indonesian Desk at LCCI inaugurated

Lahore, 8 December 2022 (GNP): Adam M. Tugio, the Indonesian Envoy, expressed his gratitude to the Punjab government and business community for their active support and collaboration in fostering bilateral economic relations between Indonesia and Pakistan.

Speaking to a large group of influential businessmen at a reception held by the Indonesian Embassy in Lahore, Ambassador Tugio expressed his gratitude to all of Indonesia’s friends for helping to maintain the strong momentum of their mutual cooperation for successful economic advances.

The development of the Indonesian Desk at LCCI and the ASEAN Trade Desk in ICCI and RCCI, respectively, were specifically cited by Ambassador Tugio as examples of how 2022 continued to be highly effective in sustaining fruitful engagement.

The Desks would give pertinent information about the trade and investment scenario of the expanding ASEAN area, and Indonesia as a trade center, to the potential Pakistani business community and investors, he noted, which would undoubtedly assist to strengthen commercial connections.

The ambassador also gave the chosen importers from Pakistan the renowned “Prima Duta award” and a certificate of gratitude from the Indonesian government for their finest efforts in boosting commerce with Indonesia on behalf of the Indonesian government.

CEO Ali Tariq of Matto Sons accepted the prize for best business performance from Pakistan in 2022, and he thanked the government and embassy of Indonesia for their encouragement and assistance. The Prima Duta Award is a gesture of gratitude and honour for international businesses who have supported Indonesia’s commercial sectors by importing its goods.

In order to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Pakistan, the ambassador emphasised the importance of trade connectivity and urged Pakistani business communities to investigate various promising fields such as herbal traditional medicine, spice trade, financial and service sector start-ups, travel and tourism, E-commerce, halal food industry, science and technology, and IT. He expressed the sincere hope that prosperous, development-oriented trade partnerships would continue to grow in the New Year of 2023.

The Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s “Indonesian Desk” was previously opened by the Indonesian Ambassador. During the LCCI’s visit, the Ambassador congratulated the executive committee and new LCCI President, Kashif Anwar, on taking office. He thanked the Chamber for its assistance and support.

By providing information on commercial expos on various industries and a list of potential trading partners, The Indonesian Desk will act as a gateway for trade and investment in Indonesia, particularly for the business community in Punjab Province, with the aim of boosting and diversifying bilateral trade between Indonesia and Pakistan.
