Governor dissolves Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly

Governor of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Haji Ghulam Ali, signed an advise summary of the Chief Minister and dissolved the assembly and provincial cabinet as well.

Peshawar, 18 January 2023 (GNP): Mahmood Khan, Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, sent a summary of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly dissolution to the Governor. He added a reference to article 112(1) of the constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, 1973, in his summary.

He was notified according to Article 224-A(4). The Chief Minister shall continue his duties day to day until the caretaker Chief Minister’s appointment. The governor gave a three-day consultation time to appoint a caretaker Chief Minister under Article 224-A(1) of the constitution of Pakistan. The leader of the opposition and Chief Minister will consult the caretaker Chief Minister and the Governor’s house is also open for consultation without any formal appointment.
