Former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser arrested in corruption case

Islamabad, 4 November, 2023 (GNP): Former National Assembly (NA) speaker and prominent Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader, Asad Qaiser, was arrested on Friday in the capital city during a raid on his residence, jointly conducted by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad police.

The arrest of Asad Qaiser is linked to an alleged corruption case involving the procurement of medical equipment for an educational institution in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The ACE had requested assistance from the Islamabad police to apprehend the PTI leader in connection with this case.

A combined team, consisting of ACE and capital police officials, carried out the raid at Asad Qaiser’s residence, successfully arresting him.

Following his arrest, he was transported to an undisclosed location for further legal procedures.

It is anticipated that he will be produced in a lower court on Saturday to seek transit remand for his transfer to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
