FM Bilawal Bhutto meets Belgian counterpart

They discussed bilateral, regional, global issues and mutual interest.

Islamabad, 19 January 2023 (GNP): Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, met Belgium counterpart Hadja Lahbib and they discussed bilateral, regional, and global issues and mutual interests. Bilawal apprised the efforts of the Belgium government for the flood-affected areas in Pakistan.

Two leaders reaffirmed the importance of strengthening economic, trade, investment, and cultural cooperation.

Belgian Foreign Minister tweeted, “Exchange with my Pakistani counterpart on the prospects for reconstruction after the exceptional floods of 2022 which devastated a third of the country. EU-relations, human rights and the situation in Afghanistan were also at the centre of our discussions.”

Foreign Minister Bilawal tweeted about the meeting, “Delighted to meet Belgium’s FM H.E.Hadja Lahbib@hadjalahbib. Appreciated the support provided for Pakistan’s flood relief. Discussed bilat. reg. & global issues of mutual interest & resolved to further strengthen eco.,trade,investment & cultural cooperation.”

The FM also met Axel Van Trotsenburg, Managing Director of Operations of the World Bank and argued about Pakistan’s economic condition nowadays. He appreciated the contribution of the World Bank to Climate Resilient Pakistan and the Bank funded approximately 2 billion dollars for flooded areas. Bhutto said that there plays a prominent role in the development sector and partnership in Pakistan.
