The Cargo train

On December 3, 2022, a welcome ceremony for the first freight train from Turkey to Uzbekistan was conducted in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

In order to carry out the resolutions made at the First Meeting of the Heads of Railway Administrations of the Organization of Turkic States held on October 27, 2022, in Tashkent, a train carrying 40 wagons filled with home equipment was launched.

The Organization of Turkic States Heads of State Summit in Samarkand held on November 11, 2022, urged strong collaboration among the Member States on the future development of the rail system’s transit capacity, digitization of transportation, and expansion of the railway administrations’ network.

In this regard, the above-mentioned efforts are being made among the Railway Administrations under the Chairmanship of Uzbekistan in the OTS.

The efforts will help to effectively use the existing transport and communication networks and infrastructure in the Turkic region.

The launch of freight trains will also significantly cut down on the time and costs of transport in the direction of global and regional markets.
