The investigation was started because of a complaint made by Raja Muhammad Haroon, an Islamabad resident after the federal government released the Toshakhana 466-page document at the prime minister’s request.

The complaint claimed that Fawad had suspected Maryam of getting a watch from the state gifts repository in his tweet from March 12 in violation of the law on privacy and to incite conflict.

Hence, the complaint argued, he ought to be facing court proceedings.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has summoned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) stalwart Fawad Chaudhry on March 17.

The summons notification was sent under Section 160 of the CPRC, which states that if the PTI leader does not attend, it’s going to be assumed that he does not have any defense to provide. Fawad will face charges under Section 174 of the Penal Code

The PTI leader is additionally ordered to carry his Identity card at all times.

In response to the news, Fawad said on Twitter that the FIA had opened an investigation hours after Maryam Nawaz made threats.

“Civil rights have been completely suspended in this country,” Fawad bemoaned, raising alarms that the Supreme Court’s silence on these matters could spell disasters. “Chief Justice of Pakistan’s silence on these issues would amount to an approval to abrogation of the constitution,” he stated.
