Rawalpindi, 10 March 2023 (GNP): In a high-scoring match, Multan Sultans defeated Peshawar Zalmi by four wickets at the Pindi Club Field in Rawalpindi on Friday.
After winning the toss, Peshawar chose to bat first and scored a mammoth 242/6 in their allotted 20 overs. In response, Multan got off to a rough start as they lost both of their openers with only 28 runs scored.
Rilee Rossouw, though, scored 121 runs in just 51 balls to win the match for Multan by four wickets. Rossouw’s innings featured 12 fours and 8 sixes, and Kieron Pollard helped him out by scoring 52 runs in just 25 deliveries.
Rossouw reached his fifty in 17 deliveries, which is the joint-fastest in the PSL for a batter. Other than Rossouw, three other batters; Kamran Akmal, Asif Ali and Hazratullah Zazai also had 17-ball fifties in the tournament.

By reaching the three-figure mark in just 41 balls, Rossouw shattered his own record for the fastest hundred in PSL history. The left-handed batter had previously completed the feat in 43 balls.

Rossouw’s 121 score during the run chase is the the third-highest individual score in the PSL. The highest is 145* by Jason Roy this week against Zalmi earlier, followed by Colin Ingram’s 127* for Karachi kings against Gladiators in 2019.
Multan completed the run chase of 243 in 19.1 overs thanks to the heroics of Rossouw, and they also guaranteed their place in the playoffs.
After Australia’s 244 against New Zealand in 2018, Sultans’ 243 run chase against Zalmi is the second-highest successful chase in T20 history. Sultans also broke the PSL record set by Gladiators, who hunted down 241 against Zalmi earlier this week.
