Efforts to Enhance Responsive Formal Support Services for Disabled

(GNP): WHO Country Representative in Pakistan, Dr Palitha Mahipala and WHO Sub Office Balochistan team met Provincial Secretary Health of Balochistan, Mr Noor-ul-Haq Baloch. During the meeting, COVID-19 response activities and delivery of disability-inclusive health care services were discussed in detail.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Mahipala remarked, “WHO is committed to advocate and protect the health needs of persons with disabilities with the objectives of creating an inclusive and equitable society where disabled persons have equal access to health care services.”
After the meeting, Dr Mahipala handed over 87 wheelchairs for 36 hospitals across the province to enable safe transfer of patients and support the mobility of people with disabilities in the hospitals. He handed over 2,000 Glucantime injections to Secretary Health to support Leishmaniasis treatment and control. Secretary Health appreciated WHO’s technical and in-kind support for various programs. He briefed Dr Mahipala on the Government’s efforts to support people with disabilities through a rights-based approach.
