Lahore., 1 February 2020 (GNP) : The speakers urged effective engagement of youth at University campuses and implementation of National Action Plan (NAP) during a concluding ceremony of Campaign to pay tribute to Martyrs of Army Public School Peshawar on Saturday at Bukhari Audortium Government College University Lahore. The provincial higher education and information technology minister Raja Yasir Humayun Sarfraz was the chief guest on the occasion. The ceremony was organised by Inter University Consortium for Promotion of Social Sciences, Government College University Lahore and Centre for Inclusive Governance. Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Government College University Lahore Prof. Dr Asghar Zaidi announced to establish special corner at the newly established campus of GCU Lahore in the memory of martyrs of APS Peshawar. Ms. Sadia Sohail Rana member Punjab Assembly, Dr Tariq Mehmood Vice Chancellor University of Narowal, Dr. Rauf-i-Azam Pro Rector University of Lahore, Mubashir Bukhari media expert and Murtaza Noor National Coordinator Inter University Consortium highlighted achievements in the implementation of NAP and the role of higher education institutions in promoting values of peace, tolerance, co-existence and Interfaith harmony among the students. Higher Education Minister Punjab Raja Yasir Humayum Sarfraz paid rich tribute to the heroes of APS Peshawar. He underlined importance of campus based student societies and clubs for effective engagement of students in various co-curricular and healthy activities. Earlier, the students of Nazir Hussain music society, debating society and dramatic club through their performance and speech paid homage to the teachers, students and employees of APS Peshawar and vowed to carry forward their mission through rejecting extremist and negative tendencies. At the end of the event, plant was planted in the memory of Martyrs of APS. (GNP)
