ECP denied media reports for asking funds

Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) clarified the news that there were no requisition to ask for funds to hold elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Islamabad, 7 March 2023 (GNP): The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has denied media reports that it had requested funding for the upcoming elections in the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies.

An ECP official dismissed the accusations in a statement released on Tuesday and insisted that the commission had not given Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif any such letter.

This denial followed news that the ECP had written the Prime Minister a letter demanding more money to hold future elections in the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies.
