Dr. Faisal Sultan allowed by an Accountability Court to examine Imran Khan

The decision was announced on Thursday following the court's ruling that remanded Khan in NAB's custody for eight days in relation to the Al-Qadir Trust case.

Islamabad, 11 May 2023 (GNP): In a detailed written verdict, an accountability court in Islamabad has granted permission to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s family and his physician, Dr. Faisal Sultan, to meet him while he remains in NAB’s custody for 8 days.

Court’s decision took into account the issues brought up by the defendant and his lawyer, allowing Dr. Faisal of Shaukat Khanum Hospital to collaborate with the medical team assessing Imran Khan and to conduct appropriate tests as needed.

Court also mandated that Khan’s wife and blood relatives be allowed to see him during his detention.

The court further ordered the concerned officials to set up a phone or mobile meeting with Khan.

Additionally, throughout his detention, Khan’s attorney, Khawaja Haris, has been given access to visit with him at an hour that suits him.

The decision to allow Khan’s family and physician to visit him during custody reflects the court’s consideration of the accused’s contentions and ensures that necessary access is provided for medical and familial support.

Medical evaluation declared Imran Khan “Medically fit”

It was disclosed at a recent hearing that a medical report provided to NAB verified former Prime Minister Imran Khan is in good health.

According to a report prepared by a board led by Dr. Rizwan Taj Khan’s blood pressure, sugar level, and heartbeat were all within normal ranges during repeated tests.

The medical report comes in response to Khan’s expressed fears of potential harm in prison.

While addressing the accountability court, Khan voiced concerns about the possibility of being subjected to slow poisoning while detained.

However, the report presented to the NAB stated that Khan did not complain of any pain or discomfort during the medical examination, which indicates his overall fitness.
