Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Visits UN

The Assistant Secretary-General and Executive Director of the Counter-Terrorism Executive Directorate, Natalia Gherman, attended the March 29 meeting with the Deputy Foreign Minister.

Ashgabat, 31 March 2023 (GNP): Mahri Bashimova, the Turkmenistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, paid a visit to the UN’s New York headquarters.

The Assistant Secretary-General and Executive Director of the Counter-Terrorism Executive Directorate, Natalia Gherman, attended the March 29 meeting with the Deputy Foreign Minister.

She also met Miroslav Jena, the Assistant Secretary-General for Europe, Central Asia, and the Americas, and the Special Representative for Central Asia for the Secretary-acting General.

In his talk with Gherman, the constable underscored Turkmenistan’s initiatives to fight terrorism and advance regional stability.

She also emphasised the nation’s readiness to keep cooperating closely with the UN and its allies to address global issues.

Natalia Gherman commended Turkmenistan’s dedication to regional stability and security as well as its role in advancing multilateral collaboration with UN counterterrorism agencies.

The Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan and Miroslav Jena met to examine ways to work together more broadly to improve preventative diplomatic procedures in Central Asia and throughout the world.

The two leaders talked about ways to improve Turkmenistan and UNRCCA collaboration in fostering regional security and peace.

He commended Turkmenistan’s role as a pioneer in advancing regional stability and showed his ardent support for its international ambitions.

Namely, the hosting of high-level UN General Assembly discussions on the Zone of Peace, Trust, and Cooperation in Central Asia as well as the founding of the Central Asian Youth Forum for Peace.

The Deputy Foreign Minister thanked the UN representatives at the sessions listed above for their cordial welcome and hospitality shown to the delegation from Turkmenistan.

In keeping with this, she emphasised Turkmenistan’s continuous dedication to collaborating closely with the UN to advance security, stability, and growth throughout the region and beyond.
