Vienna, 24 November 2022 (GNP): A delegation of Vienna Diplomatic Academy students visited the Pakistani Embassy in Vienna on Thursday. The students heard a presentation on the political and economic problems in South Asia by Mr. Aftab Ahmad Khokher, the Pakistani ambassador to Austria.
The ambassador gave a thorough explanation of Pakistan’s dynamics and foreign policy difficulties. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s aim to establish cordial ties with all nations and emphasized the significance of relations between Pakistan and the United States.
The ambassador also brought up serious human rights abuses in Indian-occupied Kashmir (IIOKJ). He continued Kashmir is the UN Security Council’s longest-running unresolved agenda item. He highlighted that India could not forcibly deny the people of Kashmir their right to self-determination. In order to stop additional violations of human rights in IIOJK, he stressed, the international community must take action.

The ambassador emphasized the significance of the global community’s ongoing involvement in Afghanistan. He emphasized the necessity of separating political and sanction-related humanitarian aid for the Afghan people.
Pakistan’s contribution to regional connectivity and prosperity was also recognized by the ambassador. He claimed that CPEC, the BRI’s flagship project, is a game-changer and is crucial to regional connectivity.
A Q&A session was held after the briefing. In response to queries from the audience, the ambassador said that China’s BRI and flagship CPEC projects are mistakenly seen as debt traps.

In fact, the CPEC has helped Pakistan meet its energy needs, which has promoted economic growth and development. In response to a different question, the ambassador called for the consistent application of international law to all global issues, including the conflict in Ukraine and Kashmir.
The participants showed great interest and thanked the Embassy for organizing it.
