Czech Embassy and NCA collaborated on an event

Islamabad, 6 December 2022 (GNP): An occasion to honour Czech and Pakistani women was held in Islamabad in collaboration between the Embassy of the Czech Republic to Pakistan and the National College of Arts (NCA), Lahore.

At NCA, Islamabad, the Czech Embassy and NCA worked together to recognise the brave women of Pakistan and the Czech Republic through a variety of events.

The book “THE CZECH AND PAKISTANI HEROINES” was jointly released during the occasion by NCA, Czech Embassy, and Czech Centers, a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting Czech culture and soft image.

The book was published by NCA and Czech culture in partnership. The exhibition and book launch honour the 50+50 Czech and Pakistani women, who are introduced as Czech and Pakistani heroines in the book.

Women from both nations were honoured for their contributions to history, society, politics, culture, science, sports, etc.On November 21, 2022, at the Foreign Office, Czech Ambassador to Pakistan Tomas Smetanka gave a copy of the Czech and Pakistani Heroines to Foreign Secretary Jauhar Saleem prior to the publication.

The youngest Microsoft Certified Professional Arfa Karim, Tahira Qazi, Nazi Hassan, Noor Jahan, Fahmida Riaz, Asma Jahangir, Samina Baig, Reshma, Marium Mukhtiar, and many other Pakistani women are featured in “The Czech and Pakistani heroines.”

Martina Navratilova, Alice Masarykova, Gabriela Preissová, Maria Jeritza, Bozena Laglerova, Sona Cervena, Milada Horakova, and other prominent Czech athletes are included in the book.

Among the Czech and Pakistani heroes were Benazir Bhutto, the two-time Prime Minister of Pakistan, and Maria Theresa, the monarch of the Habsburg dynasty.

Malala Yousafzai of Pakistan and Bertha von Suttner of the Czech Republic, both winners of the Nobel Peace Prize, were also included in the book.

Following the Hi-Tea and Musical Evening, the show features portraits, sketches, and drawings of 50+50 Czech and Pakistani women.

The students who illustrated the book and exhibition by painting, drawing, engraving, etching, and sketching were thanked by the Czech Republic Embassy in Islamabad.
