Croatia and Cyprus sign MoU for Exchange of Information

Zagreb, 05 October 2021 (TDI): Cyprus and Croatia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for mutual protection and exchange of sensitive information.

The Permanent Secretary of Cyprus for European Affairs, Kornelios Korneliou, met important officials from the Croatian Ministry of European and Foreign Affairs, including his counterpart Andreja Metelko-Zgombic.

The two diplomats had a lot discuss. The discussions included the expansion of the European Union to the western Balkans. They talked about the bilateral relationship and emphasized improving relations through economic cooperation and integration. They discussed the topics on the European Union agenda, including the issue of climate change and the refugee crisis. They also discussed issues related to European stability in their respective regions.

Both officials also discussed the way forward for the Med-9. Med-9 is a group of 9 Mediterranean countries including France, Italy, Spain, Cyprus, Croatia, Slovenia, Malta, Greece, and Portugal.

The event  Med-9 Summit in September 2021, was a joint declaration adopted which termed the peace and humanitarian situation at the Mediterranean as of strategic significance to the European Union.
