Council of Foreign Ministers of OTS gathering 1st time in Samarkand

Samarkand, 9 November 2022 (GNP/ TDI): Samarkand, Uzbekistan, will host the first summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) on 11th November 2022.

The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, will host the Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States at the summit.

Before the summit on November 10, 2021, the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OTS will gather in Samarkand. They will complete work on the Summit’s agenda items and the agreements that the Heads of State will sign.

The Presidents of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, & Türkiye will be attending the summit. Along with them, the Hungarian Prime Minister, the former President of Turkmenistan, & the organization’s Secretary-General will also join the first summit of OTS.

The Organization of Turkic States was founded in 2009 as an international organization with the overarching goal of developing thorough collaboration among Turkic States.

Additionally, the leaders will discuss important topics of multilateral cooperation among Member and Observer States in various spheres. The leaders will also share their views regarding political and economic developments in the region.

To conclude the summit, the Organization’s Chairmanship-in-Office will transfer from Turkey to Uzbekistan. The heads of state will sign the Samarkand Declaration and several resolutions, including those appointing managers to the OTS Secretariat.
