COAS assured Businessmen economic growth ahead

Accompanied by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Army Commander General Asim Munir conveyed his belief that the country had effectively overcome the risk of default and would emerge triumphant.

Islamabad, 8 March 2023 (GNP): During a meeting with the top 10 businesspeople in the country, General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), accompanied by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, expressed confidence that the nation has successfully overcome the threat of default and will emerge victorious. He assured the group that the worst was now behind us. 

Despite no formal announcement after the meeting, insiders claim that the Army Chief maintained a cheerful and upbeat demeanour the whole time. He encouraged the businesses to be firm and self-assured and exuded confidence that the nation would overcome its present economic troubles. 

During the meeting with top business leaders from various industries, the Army Chief stressed that challenging times are an inevitable part of every country’s journey, and Pakistan is currently facing similar difficulties.

He asserted that the worst has passed, and the nation will ultimately triumph. COAS Asim repeatedly drew upon Islamic teachings to persuade the audience that Pakistan is capable of effectively navigating these trying times. According to a source, this was a common theme in his statements. 

The Army Chief had invited Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to the meeting, which the attendees described as highly productive. 

The Army Commander and Finance Minister provided the business community that all the previous IMF requirements had been fulfilled and that a deal was anticipated to be finalized. They also disclosed that the IMF had requested proof of contracts with allied nations committed to providing funds to enhance Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves.

The government has notified the business community that they have secured promises from friendly countries to invest in agriculture, mining, and IT. The expectation is that these nations will provide advanced equity for these investments. It was also mentioned that there is collaboration between the civic and military leadership in ensuring that these pledges are secured. 

The army chief was informed by the businessmen that the public expected the military to prevent further polarization and chaos. In response, the army chief stated that the military was fulfilling its duty and attempting to promote unity.
