CM Punjab refuses to take vote of confidence

CM Elahi could not take a vote of confidence and then he was de-notified as CM Punjab.

Lahore, 8 January 2023(GNP): Chairman Pakistan Tahreek-e- Insaaf, Imran khan, has consulted senior party leaders and Provincial Ministers (Including CM Punjab), Punjab not to take a vote of confidence in the provincial Assembly of Punjab.

Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has been removed by the Governor of Punjab and Governor Punjab Baligh-ur -Rehman exercised his power and ordered to take a vote of confidence in the provincial Assembly of Punjab.

However, CM Elahi could not take a vote of confidence, and then he was de-notified as CM Punjab. After all this situation, Parvez Elahi filed a petition in court and the high court issued an order to continue his duties as CM Punjab until further court order.

Additionally, Imran Khan called a review meeting with allies of the party’s leaders and allies of the government in Punjab about a vote of confidence and they decided to take a vote of confidence in the provincial Assembly before January 11.

CM Parvez Elahi claimed that the governor’s order was illegal and he didn’t follow him. Elahi flummoxed the opposition parties in the assembly and convinced the PTI, which was an ally party of Parvez Elahi.

Moreover, the legal advisory team of Imran Khan informed him that a vote of confidence would occur on a court verdict. If the court gave the order to take a vote of confidence in the provincial Assembly, the party would go for a vote of confidence in the provincial Assembly of Punjab. Nevertheless, Imran khan followed the decision of the legal advisory team and waited for the court verdict.

Imran stated that they would resign from the Assembly if they could not dissolve the Punjab Assembly and the PTI parliamentary committee did not announce any instructions for the members of the provincial Assembly of Punjab, regarding the vote of confidence on 9 January 2023.
