CM Baluchistan’s message on World Cancer Day

The celebration of World Cancer Day aims to raise awareness of this fatal condition.

Quetta, 4 February 2023 (GNP): Chief Minister of Baluchistan, Abdul Qudous Bizenjo, stated in a statement on February 4, World Cancer Day that while cancer is undoubtedly a fatal disease, it is treatable with prompt detection.

The chief minister stated that the public’s ignorance about cancer and its proliferation is a cause for concern. The celebration of World Cancer Day aims to raise awareness of this fatal condition.

He emphasized the necessity of raising public awareness of the danger posed by cancer and added that in addition to the government, civil society and non-governmental groups may also be significant players in spreading this awareness.

With coordinated and cooperative efforts, he continued, “it is our communal responsibility to stop the spread of cancer.”

The Chief Minister emphasized that the government of Balochistan was fully aware of its duties to provide medical facilities to the populace, noting that through the Balochistan Public Endowment Fund, poor and deserving cancer patients were receiving free treatment, while Quetta’s cancer hospital would also soon begin operations.

He added that the government was committed to the prevention of cancer and the provision of treatment for patients suffering from it. “The Department of Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment in BMC has been developed on modern lines,” he said.
