Jasper, 18 January 2023 (GNP): CJ Harris was also known by his full name, Curtis CJ Harris American singer from Jasper, Alabama, who finished in sixth place on the thirteenth season of American Idol in 2014 passed away on 15 January 2023, aged 31.
His death was from suffering a heart attack on Sunday, after which he was taken to Walker Baptist Medical Center in Jasper. According to the Walker County Coroner, CPR efforts were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead.
Fans and celebrities have been paying tribute to him. A Season 13 American Idol contestant, Jessica Meuse, remembered Harris on Instagram, writing: “The world is definitely a darker and eerily quieter place without you in it. I’m grateful that our paths crossed and that I can say you were (and always will be) a part of mine. There are a lot of things I realize I will never understand — you leaving us so soon is one of those things.”

The American Idol team also posted on Instagram: “C.J. Harris was an incredible talent, and the news of his passing deeply saddens us. He will be truly missed.”
