Chinese Envoy commended Sudan’s progress at UNGA

New York, 1 October 2021  (TDI): At the United Nations General Assembly high-level sideline event, Ambassador Dai Bing, Chargé d’Affaires of the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations praised the development of Sudan towards peace and prosperity.

He emphasized the strong support of the Chinese government which played a pivotal role in the Sudan political process and development. The Chinese government encouraged the elected Sudanese parties to establish the transitional legislative council.

Furthermore, Dai urged the international community to help Sudan, as a large population needs humanitarian assistance due to the pandemic. China has also worked for the Sudanese economy which was severely affected during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The United Nations General Assembly high-level sideline event was hosted by the Secretary-General of the United Nation and Norway to reaffirm the overall economic and political performance of Sudan, which was unable to achieve milestones despite all other challenges.

In the virtual meeting, the Secretary-General of the United Nations and Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs spoke to maintain the current Sudan momentum, and Prime Minister of Sudan, Abdalla Hamdok was also part of that virtual dialogue.

In addition, the sideline event was attended by members of the United Nations Security Council, the selected members of regional states, Sudan’s key partners from international communities, International Financial Institutions, and regional organizations.
