Washington/ Beijing, 2 October 2021 (TDI): China’s ambassador to the US, Qin Gang while giving an exclusive interview to China Media Group’s Washington bureau stated that China and the United States bilateral relations are currently in an “exploring stage”.
Qin, who was a vice-minister of foreign affairs in the past, assumed the Ambassador post in Washington, D.C., in late July. Qin notified, “My job is to cut down on this exploration process at the earliest and make it less intense”. He claimed that in the past two months, he observed that people in America still brace the US-China relationship and wants the bilateral relations to be improved as quickly as they can.
Qin pledged to expand contacts with all sectors as it will benefit both countries. He encouraged both countries should respect one another, cooperate peacefully, and work together for mutual advantage. He said earlier in September, President Xi Jinping in a telephonic conversation with US President Joe Biden, discussed China’s position in bilateral relations and said that to restore both countries’ relationship is not optional. It is something “we must do”.
