The unearthing of this scandal has raised serious questions on the credibility of this 27 nations’ august body.
Eva Kaili, the Greek Member of the European Parliament (MEP), is suspected of receiving monetary bribes from a Qatari official.
However, Qatar and Eva Kaili have turned down these allegations as baseless.
The Belgian officials claimed that they had been probing this case since last year in collaboration with other foreign intelligence agencies to unearth the corrupt practices of members of Parliament of the European Union of different countries.
Meanwhile, Belgian police recovered 1.5 million euros in cash in their raids from Monday to Friday. Their Italian counterparts are investigating seven bank accounts and also searched an office in Milan.

Eva Kaili, who is in detention by the Belgian authorities, her lawyer Michalis Dimitrakopoulos, asked for more time for the case preparation, which is scheduled for 22 December.
While Three other suspects in this Qatar gate scandal were held for pre-hearing trials by Belgian Police, and their offices and digital resources have been sealed to find key proof.
