Dubai, 6 June, 2023 (GNP): The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced three prestigious nominations for the Player of the Month award for May 2023. Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam has earned a well-deserved nomination. The other two contenders for the award are Najmul Hussain Shanto from Bangladesh and Ireland’s Harry Tector.
Babar Azam has received a tremendous nomination following his exceptional and consistent performances during the home ODI series against New Zealand last month. Pakistan’s skipper showcased his unwavering dedication to his country, leading his team to a terrific victory in the series.

The ICC released a statement, “After securing victories in the first two matches of the five-match series in late April, Pakistan continued its dominance in early May, ultimately emerging as a 4-1 series win. It is no surprise that the positive results were due to Babar Azam’s outstanding contributions with the bat.”
Notably, on May 3, Babar Azam partnered with Imam ul Haq to establish an astounding wicket stand. The two players culminated in an impressive knock of 54 off 62 balls. His brilliant innings helped Pakistan post a competitive total of 287/6, reportedly.

Babar Azam showcased his immense talent by scoring a remarkable century of 107 (117), which marks his 18th ODI century. His outstanding innings guided the team to a formidable total of 334/6.
Moreover, Babar Azam’s nomination for the ICC Player of the Month award is the evidence rendering him as no.1 batsman in the world. His exceptional achievements on the field are tremendous and consistently recognizable.
He has also received ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year award 2022 and the prestigious Sir Garfield Sobers trophy for the ICC’s men cricketer of the Year.
Recently, Babar Azam has added a name to history by becoming the fastest batsman to reach 500 ODI runs, surpassing the previous record of South Africa’s Hashim Amla.
The ICC Player of the Match award recognizes the outstanding contributions of players across the globe. Also, it serves as a testament to the exceptional skills, dedication, and players’ impact on the game.
However, the winner of the award for May 2023 will be decided through a voting process involving fans, media members, and the ICC voting academy. Fans can cast their vote on the ICC website and the voting will remain open for a limited time.
