Azerbaijan waives customs taxes on imported Pakistani rice till 2027

Baku, 23 November 2022 (GNP): According to Cabinet Resolution No. 418, Azerbaijan has resolved to free rice imported from Pakistan from import customs taxes.

By December 31, 2027, Azerbaijan’s Cabinet of Ministers has decided to waive import taxes on rice coming from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

Yesterday, Khazar Farhadov, the Azerbaijani ambassador to Pakistan, announced the news on his official Twitter account.

The five-year exemption is part of measures to increase trade between the two friendly countries. Numerous steps have been taken by the present Pakistani administration to boost commerce between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

Both countries are now in discussions to deepen their business connections on many levels. The Azerbaijani government’s initiatives to increase commerce between Pakistan and Azerbaijan have been commended by the Pakistani government.

Data from the UN’s COMTRADE database on international commerce show that in 2021, Azerbaijan purchased rice from Pakistan for $1.57 million.
