Azerbaijan diffuses 51 bombs in Karabakh

High-ranked diplomats of Azerbaijan urged the United Nations Security Council to intervene in the growing standoff of Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Baku, 13 December 2022 (GNP): Azerbaijan claims that Armenia has sent thousands of landmines to Nagorno-Karabakh, which is a de-occupied and landlocked area in the South Caucasus within the mountainous range of Karabakh. Following the claim, High-ranked diplomats of Azerbaijan urged the United Nations Security Council to intervene in the two states’ growing standoff.

In the Lachin area, which is located between Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia, Azerbaijan discovered more than 1,300 mines planted by Armenia earlier this year, in 2022. Following the Second Karabakh War in 2021, Armenia produced the mines. Early this year, the Azerbaijani government claimed it was a planned action against the peace and security of the area, revealing Armenia’s hostile intentions.

Currently, the sole road in or out of the Nagorno-Karabakh territory is being used by Armenia to carry weaponry, according to Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan. Armenia has repeatedly denied sending military equipment to Nagorno-Karabakh. Diplomatic negotiations are still a possibility.
