Azam Swati received 14-day judicial remand

Islamabad, 1 December 2022 (GNP): Azam Swati, a senator for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was given a 14-day judicial remand on Thursday by a district and sessions court in the case involving his “controversial” tweets against high military leaders.

Before the four-day physical remand was ended, the Federal Investigation Agency (IFIA) submitted an application to the court of Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Shabbir Bhatti, requesting a judicial remand.

The FIA’s request was granted during the hearing today, and Swati was ordered to appear on December 15 as a result.

The FIA’s Cyber Crime Wing in Islamabad conducted a raid at Swati’s farmhouse in Chak Shahzad earlier this week, leading to his second arrest for reportedly tweeting disparaging remarks against top military officers.

Later, he was brought before a magistrate who gave him a two-day physical remand and turned him over to the FIA. His physical remand was increased by four more days two days later.
