New York, 23 January 2023 (GNP): According to Disney Inc., the Box office sales for Avatar: The Way of Water totaled $2.024 billion on Sunday, January 22, 2023. After six weeks in the theatres, it takes the spot as the sixth highest-grossing movie of all time. An estimated $1.4 billion of ticket sales have come from international markets outside the United States and Canada.
Paul Dergarabedian, a senior media analyst at Comscore, commented: “It’s an unqualified success. Any time you are in the billions, you are in the pantheon of top franchises.”
Disney has not revealed the movie’s budget. However, a Hollywood insider disclosed that it cost at least $350 million to produce, including marketing costs. Studios split ticket sales with theatres. After thirteen years, the avatar film returns with a new plot with almost the same cast.

In The Way of Water, actors Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana return as Jake Sully and Neytiri 10 years later, now parents of five children. When humans return to go after Jake, the family takes refuge with an oceanic clan. The film is expected to hit digital on Netflix later this year.
