Washington, (GNP): The Arab League has called on the United Nations to take more decisive action to halt ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, warning that global stability is at risk.
Speaking at the UN’s “Summit of the Future” in New York, Assistant Secretary-General Hossam Zaki said the world stands at a perilous “crossroads” amid escalating violence in Gaza and Lebanon.
Addressing the summit, Zaki emphasized the urgent need for the UN to address Israel’s continued aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza, where over 41,000 have been killed since Hamas’ October 7 attacks last year.
He condemned the UN’s failure to act decisively, noting that it took months for the Security Council to pass a ceasefire resolution last June.

Zaki also expressed frustration over what he described as a “disgraceful silence” on Gaza, accusing the international community of applying double standards.
He reaffirmed the Arab League’s support for the UN, while criticizing its reluctance to recognize Palestine as a full member state, despite the backing of 149 nations.
The Arab League’s call comes as Israel continues airstrikes across Gaza and southern Lebanon, further intensifying the region’s conflict.
