Meeting between Tajik and Hungarian Foreign Minister

Dushanbe, 15 October 2021 (GNP/ TDI): Tajik Foreign Minister, Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Peter Szijjarto.

The meeting took place in an atmosphere of mutual understanding. Both parties discussed bilateral, regional, and multilateral cooperation.

Foreign Ministers expressed satisfaction with the first meeting of the Tajik-Hungarian Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.  They expressed confidence it will strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, the Tajik side stressed the expansion of inter-parliamentary ties between Dushanbe and Budapest. The Foreign Ministers paid special attention to the issue of regional security. They also discussed the contemporary situation in Afghanistan.

During the discussion, both sides expressed satisfaction with the cooperation in the framework of international organizations. Tajikistan is a supporter of the “green economy” policy. The country works closely with EU countries, including Hungary. The Tajik delegation expressed gratitude for the support of Hungary to the initiatives of Tajikistan in addressing the issues of efficient use of water resources in the international arena.

The interlocutors signed a draft Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of professional development of diplomatic service between the Foreign Minister of Tajikistan and Hungary.
