Danish and Pakistani Foreign Minister meet in Islamabad

Islamabad, 1 October 2021 (GNP): Foreign Minister of Denmark Jeppe Kofod visits Pakistan on Friday; during his visit, he meets Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi. Denmark and Pakistan discussed bilateral ties, both sides have mutual interests in economic, environmental, and security areas.

The Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood warmly welcomed the Danish Foreign Minister to Pakistan. He stressed the need for cooperation and unity of the international community on the Afghanistan issue. While telling about the future cooperation between two states, Shah Mehmood called Denmark a “valued partner”.

Discussing the issue of Afghanistan, Foreign Minister Kofod thanked Pakistan for its role in the Danish people’s emergency evacuation when the Taliban took over Afghanistan. The two sides enhanced the partnership in the environmental and economic sectors such as climate change, green transition, regional stability, and sustainable trade. Kofod told that Denmark will increase the number of the posted workers in their embassy in Islamabad.

Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod urged Pakistan to persuade the Afghan Taliban to fulfill their commitments that they did regarding human rights in Afghanistan. He also talked with Pakistan’s journalists and diplomats and thanked airport staff for their role in the Danish evacuation operation.
