China Vows Support for Iran

New York, (GNP): China’s top diplomat Wang Yi reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to supporting Iran in safeguarding its security against external threats.

He held a meeting with Iran’s new President Masoud Pezeshkian in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly session, according to a statement released by China’s foreign ministry on Wednesday.

The message came amidst a backdrop of escalating conflict in the Middle East, where Israel has intensified its strikes against Hezbollah, Iran’s ally, in Lebanon.

The Chinese foreign minister assured Pezeshkian that China would remain a “trustworthy partner” and reaffirmed Beijing’s support for Iran’s sovereignty and security.

“Beijing will continue to support Tehran in safeguarding its sovereignty, territorial integrity, security, and national dignity,” Wang stated.

He also reiterated Beijing’s opposition to external forces intervening in Iran’s internal matters or imposing sanctions.
