Azerbaijani film submitted for Oscar

Los Angeles, 12 November 2022 (GNP): The Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California, will host the 95th Academy Awards ceremony on March 12, 2023.

Creators, a documentary by Shamil Aliyev, has been nominated for Oscar Awards.

Mikail Useynov (1905-1992) and Sadig Dadashev, renowned Azerbaijani architects, are profiled in the movie for their lives and careers (1905-1946).

It describes how, in the 20th century, communist ideology influenced both their creative output and the Azerbaijani cultural legacy.

The Salname film studio and the Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture ordered the movie to be made in 2020.

The documentary received several awards at international film festivals in Italy, Japan, India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and other nations.

The idea for the movie was created by Professor Elbay Gasimzada, chairman of the board of the Azerbaijan Union of Architects, Honored Architect; Natig Rasulzada, a People’s Writer; Rufat Suleymanov, a cinematographer; Lala Huseynzada, a production designer; Azar Askarov, a film composer; and Nazim Huseynov, a producer.

Notably, since 2007, Azerbaijan has submitted movies for consideration for the Academy Award for Best International Feature.
