Chairman Senate condemns Afghan aggression at Pakistan border

Islamabad — Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has strongly condemned the recent unprovoked aggression and firing by Afghan forces on Pakistan’s border areas, terming it a blatant violation of international law and fundamental human rights.

In a strongly worded statement, Chairman Senate said that firing on civilian populations and violating Pakistan’s territorial integrity is unacceptable and poses a serious threat to regional peace and stability. He stressed that Pakistan has always pursued a policy of peace, mutual respect, and good-neighbourly relations, and has consistently supported a stable, peaceful, and prosperous Afghanistan.

Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani paid rich tribute to the Pakistan Armed Forces for their timely, effective, and professional response to Afghan aggression. He said that the entire nation stands united behind its valiant armed forces, who are ever-ready to defend every inch of the motherland. “Under the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Armed Forces possess the full capability to give a befitting and strong response to any act of aggression,” he stated.

The Chairman Senate reiterated that no one will be allowed to challenge Pakistan’s sovereignty or compromise its national security. “Pakistan’s patience should not be mistaken for weakness. Border violations are intolerable, and any attempt to undermine our territorial integrity will be met with a decisive response,” he declared.

Highlighting Pakistan’s longstanding commitment to peace and humanitarianism, Gilani noted that Pakistan has hosted over four million Afghan refugees for more than four decades, reflecting its generosity and goodwill toward the Afghan people. However, he regretted that Afghan soil continues to be used for terrorist and hostile activities against Pakistan — a matter that demands serious attention from the Afghan authorities and the international community.

The Chairman Senate emphasized that lasting regional peace, progress, and prosperity can only be achieved through mutual respect, adherence to international norms, and diplomatic cooperation. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to safeguard its borders and protect its citizens at all costs.

“Pakistan’s Armed Forces are the shield of the nation — no enemy can dare cast an evil eye on Pakistan as long as they stand guard. The entire nation takes pride in its defenders and remains steadfast in ensuring the sovereignty, security, and dignity of the country,” Chairman Senate concluded.
