Islamabad, 5 August 2022 (GNP): The international community must demand an end to India’s flagrant and pervasive human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a reversal of its illegal actions from 5 August 2019, the repeal of draconian laws, and the implementation of pertinent UN Security Council resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir, said Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
His statement came on the occasion of Yaum-e-Istihsaal, which is commemorated to highlight India’s illegal and brutal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.
He stated that the peaceful settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the pertinent United Nations Security Council resolutions and the demands of the Kashmiri People remained Pakistan’s ultimate objective.
He declared that until all of their legal rights are fully realized, Pakistan will continue to stand firmly in the corner of its Kashmiri brothers and sisters.
On 5 August every year, Pakistan commemorates the Yaum-e-istihsaal-e-Kashmir, or the day of exploitation of Kashmir, to underscore Indian illegal occupation and subsequent human rights abuses
Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir
Pakistan has retained a consistent stance of support towards Kashmir’s independence. It has condemned India’s brutal occupation and has campaigned in the international community on behalf of the Kashmiri people.
Pakistan maintains that the Kashmiri people have the right to self-determination under international law. The international law, combined with the United Nation’s resolutions on Kashmir, recognizes Kashmir as a disputed territory and provides Kashmiri people a chance to self-rule.
Currently, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is on a visit to Cambodia, representing Pakistan in the ASEAN Regional Forum’s meeting. He took part in the discussions on Asia-Pacific-related political and security issues aiming to enhance cooperation and promote joint solutions.
He has also met his counterparts and officials from Cambodia, Vietnam, South Korea, and other Asia-Pacific countries.
During his meetings, he has engaged the international community to support the Kashmir cause and denounce the ongoing human rights abuses.
