Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif receives Japanese Official

Islamabad, 3 August 2022 (GNP): Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif received the Parliamentary Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Honda Taro, on Wednesday.

The officials discussed several matters of interest, mostly focusing on expanding bilateral economic ties.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister stressed that Pakistan strongly values its long-standing ties with Japan. He reiterated Pakistan’s determination to further enhance bilateral ties in all fields of mutual interest.

The Prime Minister also praised the Government of Japan for its support of Pakistan’s socioeconomic and infrastructure development while highlighting the two countries’ friendly and cooperative relations.

Vice Minister Honda Taro expressed condolences for the devastation due to floods. He complimented the Prime Minister for his efforts in advancing Pakistan-Japan collaboration.

He further ensured Japan’s continued commitment to enhancing bilateral ties with Pakistan. The Prime Minister was also updated by Vice Minister Honda on JICA’s assistance in Pakistan, particularly in the areas of disaster relief, water, sanitation, and health.

Finally, the Prime Minister discussed the dire human rights situation in the Indian Illegally-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir with the visiting dignitary.

Vice Minister Honda Taro also met with Minister of State Hina Rabbani Khar, Japanese embassy officials, and Minister for Economic Affairs Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on his visit to Pakistan.
